Texas Roadhouse restaurant...

Tonight our family went to the new Texas Roadhouse restaurant on I-10 & Westgreen.  Guess who we saw there? Jennifer Boyd, one of our high school seniors.   She was the "Homecoming Queen" at Katy High School this year.  Sweet girl with incredible parents.  Later during our meal, all the workers at the restaurant lined up and danced a "Texas hoe down" to loud music.

Hey, Jennifer!  Can you recruit a bunch of our youth to do a "praise hoe down" this coming Sunday morning?   Maybe it'll be a new category in the Fine Arts competition this year?  :-D

Pity Party

I'm DEPRESSED!  Just found out that my travel agent, whom I've used for 18 years has moved on.  She's the one that booked all my trips while I was a crusade director...all my vacations...even our honeymoon ("Playa Del Carmen" in Mexico).   Sounds silly?  Well, perhaps.  But still, the thought of "breaking in" a new travel agent doesn't appeal to me at the moment.   However, I am reminded that the most consistent thing in life is....change.  Whether you like it or not, change will always occur.

So glad there in one thing that will NEVER change...Jesus Christ.  The Bible says that He is "the same yesterday, today and forever".  OK...time for me to end my Pity Party!

Under the weather

I was under-the-weather tonight.  Despite the fact that I was on "fumes", the Lord really helped me during the Bible study that I teach. In the Bible, Paul said:  "When I am weak, then I am stong"...speaking of God's strength and grace being attracted to weakness.  I can testify to that!

"Please, can I have your autograph!"

This evening we had dinner with some church folks at Babbin's Seafood in Katy.  One of our high school seniors at FLAG, Ashley Scoggins, was our gracious hostess.  I think that she might have been embarrassed a bit when I began exclaiming out loud, "I can't believe it's YOU!  I've seen ALL your movies!  And I saw you on BROADWAY! Please, can I have your AUTOGRAPH!"  Many heads were turning toward us to see what all the commotion was about.

I hope that all our youth know that their Pastor loves them.  I just like to have a little fun with them!

PS:  Wondering if Michael Reyes is still working at Pei Wei on Mason?  ;-)

Hissing Cockroaches

Did you read about the 26 "hissing cockroaches" that were RESCUED by The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals?   Whoa!  They would've been busy 24/7 in my old neighborhhod in NYC.

"Hissing roaches?!"  Now what in the world are those?  ("Psssssss...hey, any dirt nearby?")

The Enemy is indeed the original "hissing roach".  Ugly and makes intimidating noises. But all it takes is one good "Holy Ghost stomp" to defeat him!

Drawing God

A kindergarten teacher was watching her classroom of children while they drew. She would occasionally walked around to see each child's artwork. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was about.

The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."

The teacher paused and said, "but no one knows what God looks like."

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing the girl replied, "They will in a minute."
