Rushing on Wednesdays?

Rushing on Wednesdays trying to get to get something to eat prior to going to church?  Great solution for your consideration! The CrossCulture Youth Cafe.  Yep!  Actually, you don't have to be a teen to go to the Cafe between 6-7 pm on Wednesday to order something to eat.   They have a nice menu & great prices.

Just come on over. Chapel.  Fun.  Convenient.  Bring the entire family.  Stop rushing on Wednesdays!

While driving in a rough part of Houston...

This evening our family was involved in a car accident.  While driving in a rough part of Houston, on our way to a banquet at Braeswood A/G, someone decided to cut in front of us in order to enter the parking lot to their apt complex.  Those few second prior to the crunching of metal were like a slow-motioned movie.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured (although my back is a little sore from the pre-crash tensing up), and we were able to make it to the banquet.  So glad we did. The speaker, Charles Crabtree was AWESOME.  There are two things that my wife and I realize about tonight's "drama".

1. The Enemy was trying to deter us from being blessed by Rev. Crabtree's message.

2. We had two angels named "Goodness" and "Mercy" that protected us tonight (Psalm 23:6)

Haircuts...Sonic...Toys R Us

Today I spent time with the most important person that God has given me to disciple....my 5 year old boy.   Haircuts...Sonic...Toys R US...errands...and in between, conversations about life, prayer requests, and God's love for us.   Nothing heavy.  Yet powerful.

There's a saying, "More is caught than taught."   I hope he caught some good stuff while hanging with Dad.

Wet up to my ears!

During the baptismal service this Sunday morning, I took a misstep and lost my balance while baptizing someone.  Down I went!  Wet up to my ears!!   To make matters even more embarrassing, the entire congregation saw it on the big screen via close circuit video!!  Rumor is that someone is going to post a copy of this "Kodak Moment" on GodTube.

Our missionary friends...

Hey, folks...I'd like some of you to drop a "thinking of you" comment to our missionary friends, Roger & Debbie Audorff.  They are is language school in Costa Rica "tuning up" their Spanish before heading off to their assignment in Monterrey, Mexico.   Here is the link to their blog...CLICK HERE.

"Ugli Fruit"

My wife brought home from the grocery store something called "Ugli Fruit".   Indeed it was UGLY!  Round, dark green with uneven bumpy skin...the size of a softball.  But when you peel the thick skin manually, the inside looks like a grapefruit.  It tasted like a hybrid between grapefruit & orange, and actually was good.

I guess you can't judge a fruit by it's cover!

Our electronic sign on Mason Rd...

How about any of the following messages scrolling on our church electronic sign on Mason Rd?  Let me know your thoughts and ideas!

--"Searching for a new look? Free faith lifts here."

--"Eternal reservations.  Smoking or non-smoking?"

--"Heading the wrong way?  God allows U-turns."

--Insomnia? Don't count sheep. Talk to the Shepherd."

Jesus said we must be like a child...

When I was a young preacher...

When I was a young preacher, I heard Rev. Thomas Zimmerman, the General Supt of our denomination at the time, make the following profound statement during a Minister's Conference:

"Dont make up in thunder what you lack in lightening."

Ouch.
