Awwww....

Awwww....Mima's is permanently closed!   I was planning to have lunch there today with someone, but the place was shut down.  Bummer.

So glad that God's love for us can never be shut down!

Leap Year!

Today is February 29th..."Leap Year".   How are you using this extra day that has been added to 2008?

I enjoyed his Brittish accent....

Last night's guest speaker, Rae Galloway, ministered efffectively to our church folks.  He and his wife, Ruth, are pastors in South Wales, Great Brittain.  I enjoyed his regional Brittish accent tremendously, as well as his Brittish humor (pardon, meant to spell it "humour"!).   Took me a while to figure out that when he said "flootful", he meant "fruitful" :-)

Cheeri-O!

Habla Espanol?

This coming Sunday we launch our new Spanish-language ministry with a special Spanish Sunday School Class.  Raul & Noemi Ortiz, veteran A/G missionaries and pastors will be spearheading this venture. We are believing this ministry to evolve into a larger outreach.

The Ortiz's are a neat couple.  Raul is is Columbian, and Noemi is Cuban.  We enjoyed an incredible Cuban meal at their home last week, and were enthralled as we listened to their ministry stories.  The Ortiz's are no flakes.  Solid.  In love with Jesus.  Passion for souls.

Call 911!

Call 911!!   Every Starbucks in America is shutting down at 5:30 pm today for 3 hours!  For some reason I am imagining millions of Americans pulling over in their cars as they cope with withdrawal symptoms ("caffeine DTs") during rush hour traffic.

So glad that we always have access to the "living waters" that only Christ is able to give!

We can't all play Noah...

MMMMMM......

1.   If a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?

2.   Would a fly without wings be called a walk?

3.   Can you be a closet claustrophobic?

4.   When it rains, why don't sheep shrink?

5.   If cops arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent?

6.   What do you do when you discover an endangered animal that eats only endangered plants?

7.   What's another word for thesaurus?

8.   Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?

9.   Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

10. Do vegetarians eat animal crackers?

Steamed asparagus with chicken

This morning I concluded my 4-week sermon series, "Heaven's Blueprints".  I really have enjoyed preparing for this series, as well as preaching it.   It certainly was fitting to wrap up this series with partaking of Holy Communion.

Afterwards, we went our our favorite Chinese restaurant, Fortune Village, with a couple of church folks. Very nice and serene atmosphere.   Favorite item on the menu?  Steamed asparagus with chicken.  Mmmmm.

I almost looked like a Bubba!

Well, just got back from attending the Katy Rodeo with my wife, little boy and his friend from school. Left my Dockers at home and wore my jeans and boots!  I almost looked like a Bubba :-)   Favorite part?  Bullriding!  Wow, they were some huge and ferocious bulls 'em cowboys rode (and flew off from).  Cutist part?  Sheepriding by little kids.  Funniest? The Clown that seved as a kind of "ring master".
Them metal bleachers got harder and colder as the night progressed, but the excitement in the air kept the crowd warm.  We ate huge sausage on a stick and fries.  Didn't get a chance to buy and eat funnel cakes.
If "y'all" can get to the rodeo tomorrow, it'll be a wonderful night out and only costs $7/ticket. Don't forget to dress warmly!
