Nicky Preaching at a Inner City Street Event...

Look at this clip of Nicky Cruz preaching at an inner city street meeting.  Notice how he starts mellow, earning the acceptance of the street crowd, then after about a minute and a half, he gets on the HOV lane!  There's an abrupt end to this clip at 9:56, but it's still powerful....Love to hear your thoughts. He was even jolly!

My wife and I went to the "early vote" site this morning.  Although the whole process of standng in line & voting took about 50 minutes, it actually went smoothly and everyone was in good spirits. The main volunteer worker coordinating the number of voters allowed inside the building was an older gentlemen that looked like Santa Claus.  He was even jolly!  For a brief moment I felt a compulsion to give him my Christmas wish list.

I walked two laps around Katy Mills Mall today.  Just needed to clear my head and pray some things through...I call it "Prayer Walks".   I think some of the other "walkers" may have been spooked.  It simply looked as if I was in a big hurry while mumbling to myself ("Hey, Thelma, be careful with that strange looking man talking under his breath.  He looks like he's on meds.").  I did stop at Starbucks towards the end for my Chai Tea.

During the vehicle funeral procession from the church to the cementary that I was part of today, we were instructed to drive with the headlights on and hazard lights flashing.  I didn't realize that we were going to be led unto Beltway 8 and Hwy 59 (from Spring to Humble, TX).  The police escort actually shut down these highways at around 4pm so that the procession could travel without dealing with competing traffic!  And I thought shutting down highways was only done for VIP funeral processions.  Then again, Jackie Davidson, whose life we were celebrating today, was indeed a VIP.  Oh, she would've been laughing with embarrassment at all the fancy police escort attention her funeral was getting.

"Schnookins"

The drama presentation at church this morning was phenomenal.  Steve Mosley, the actor/writer/producer of the drama, Chosen Garment, is incredibly talented.  It was amazing how he took us through the entire Bible in a creatively, informative and very entertaining manner.  I think our family's favorite scene was when Jezebel kissed Ahad on his head and called him "Schnookins".

Tears of both sadness and joy

During the Kids in Ministry program this morning, one of the church groups did a presentation using the sound track of the powerful and moving song, "I Bowed My Knees and Cried Holy".   I couldn't stop weeping as I imagined Jackie Davidson's homegoing this past Thursday.   Tears of both sadness and joy. 

They got lost driving to the church...

This morning we attended the "Kids in Ministry" Fine Arts Event at Braeswood A/G in Houston.  This is the annual district-wide event for our denomination that showcases and affirms the gifts & talents of our kids, to be used for ministry.  Our FLAG Kids were doing a choir, as well as a drama presentation.  They were fabulous!  Hey, I'm a biased pastor but I feel we have the best bunch of kids of any church in Texas (and the cutest, too!).   They all wore the same custom T-shirts and were excited.  Many of their parents (and out-fo-town relatives) were present to show their support.  So glad that Lee Ayala finally made it with her 2 girls!  They got lost driving to the church, and arrived seconds before our choir performed (Lee's girls' had the solos!).  Thankfully, Debbie Kammerlohr, our Children's Pastor, was able to stay in touch by cell phone and help them with directions.  WHEW!

My new favorite Starbucks drink....

My new favorite Starbucks drink is the hot Chai Tea!   Tasty with a kick, but zero caffeine.  Go ahead and try it next time you're there; let me know what your thoughts.
