Were you born in the USA?

This morning we attended the Children's Ministry Volunteer workers event at the church.  Great turn-out.  The ice-breaker required everyone to approach each other and find matches for unique questions....the person that matched all the questions would be the winner.  Hard to explain...you had to be there.  But one of the questions was, "Were you born in the USA?"   Would you believe my little boy approached me with his list and asked me THIS question?!   Mmmm....perhaps NYC really isn't part of the USA!  ;-)

My brother and I used to watch a couple of very old B&W movies on TV (with big ole' "rabbit ears") every year around the holidays.  Just wondering if any of you can figure them out...here are a hints:

Movie #1:  Featured song was, "The Navy Gets the Gravy".  Title of movie, or main actors?

Movie#2:  Title of movie was, "The March of the Wooden __________" (fill in blank).  Main actors?

Sorry kiddos, these are probably baby-boomer questions!  (Hey, Julie....you're the Movie Trivia Queen....don't disappoint me!)

Whatchamacallit

Went to Cracker Barrel with The Mrs this morning.  Nice roaring fireplace...great ambiance.   I had their new breakfast skillet, Southwest style.....YUM!   Plus their bottomless cup of coffee.  Years ago when I traveled a lot, I tried my best to eat at the closest CB.  Since they all look pretty much alike, in a way it felt like I was touching base with "home" while in an unfamiliar city.   BTW...I enjoy pressing the various demo buttons of their CD music display, you know, the whatchamacallit that plays sample selections of each CD.

We love lighting and sitting by our fireplace....

We love lighting and sitting by our fireplace at home. Great ambiance, especially during private devotional times.  There's something therapeutic about sitting near a blazing fireplace, especially on a cold day.  Relaxing.  Refreshing.  Renewal.   But even better than sitting near a roaring fire on a dreary day is simply sitting at the feet of Jesus.  The ultimate place to regroup and be restored.

The man behind the counter looked puzzled....

This afternoon, I took our vaccum cleaner that wasn't working well to the shop near the church.  When I walked in with it, the man behind the counter looked puzzled, and asked how he could assist me.  I announced that I was looking for the "vaccum cleaner doctor".  Then I noticed my surroundings.  Only lawn mowers and similar equipment were around me.  This was NOT the vaccum cleaner repair shop.   Ooooooops!

Hank the Cowdog?

Anyone familiar with the "Hank the Cowdog" book series?  It's my little boy's favorite. I'm kinda becoming fond of them myself.

Yesterday morning, Chad Germany, our missionary to India was the guest speaker.  He was awesome!   Such a passion for the great nation of India.   It was so refreshing to see a young minister "on fire" for the Lord.   Chad's message about how Jesus still touches "coffins" was powerful and on target.    During the service, John & Debbie Sims, a couple of other missionaries that we support arrived at FLAG.  They're in town in order for Debbie to have tests runned at MDA.  The Holy Spirit led us to stop in the middle of what we were doing so that the leadership of the Men's and Women's ministries could huddlle and pray over The Sims.   It was a very sweet time of intercession.  After Chad's sermon, there was a beautiful altar call....many came up front to receive from the Lord.   Just a great Sunday!!
