The school acquired the BEST!

The new president of ORU is Dr. Mark Rutland, one of my FAVORITE speakers and Christian authors.   In my opinion, the school acquired the BEST!

Remember your homework!

I got up extra early this morning to run over to St. Christus Catherine Hospital.  One of our members was having heart surgery, and I wanted to pray with him before he was wheeled away.  After we prayed, I asked him what was his favorite Bible verse; he told me is was John 3:16.   Then I gave him "homework".  He was to meditate on the first line of that verse, "For God so loved....", before he was put to sleep.  You see, focusing on the word of God is the greatest comfort any of us can experience, especially during times of crisis.  The Bible says that God will keep him in "perfect peace" whose mind is stayed on Him.   As this brother was wheeled away to be prepped, I exclaimed loudly, "remember your homework!"

Does Satan Exist?

Just saw online the special Nightline Faceoff program, "Does Satan Exist?".   Very interesting.  Provoking.  Disturbing.   Probably, the main reason is that one of the "don't believe in Satan" panelist is Carlton Pearson, a back-slidden preacher that I used to love listening, but now is a heretic.    BTW, Mark Driscoll, who is the pastor of Mars Hills Church in Seattle did an INCREDIBLE job!

It's about an hour long.   Warning, you'll going to get mad, VERY MAD, but it's a conversation worth listening to.    Let me know your thoughts afterwards.

Sister Pearl Hatz's 90th birthday party

This PM we dropped by the church to attend Sister Pearl Hatz's 90th birthday party.   Yep...NINETY YEARS young, and she's still "with it".   Sis. Pearl still drives, is sharp, and most important, love Jesus with all her heart.  Such an inspiration to us all.  Imagine, she's seen the Roaring Twenties come and go, lived through TWO world wars (among many others), made it through the Great Depression, witnessed the volatile 60's, has lived to see man go to the moon numerous times....and is still anchored in Jesus.   Next time you see her in church, let her know how much her devotion for the Master has inspired and blessed all of us at FLAG.

Brrrrr!!!

Brrrrrrrr!!!!   Cool weather this Saturday morning, and I'm LOVING IT!    After living in Texas 18 years, I realize that once the hot weather kicks in, it sticks around for a mighty loooong time.  Can't imagine how the folks living in Texas years ago were able to cope with the heat without A/C.   I hear they simply kept windows open & fans blowing...and actually got used to it.  Wow, we'll definitely spoiled now.  Even our house pets are spoiled.  Last time our A/C went on the blink, I neurotic cat was NOT  HAPPY.   ("Meeee-AHHHOOOOWWWW!")

Crocodile Dock!!

This is our VBS theme this year! Watcha think? Although it's scheduled for mid-June, we're beginning to plan for it, and to recruit "Croc Dock" workers. Here's the link if you want to register your kids suuuuper early, or if you want to be a worker.

Computer that prays?!

Today I really felt like a PRUNE.

Today I really felt like a PRUNE.   You see, I'm taking these super-duper antihistamine pills to help with my congestion due to, pardon.....aaaaaahhhhh-CHHHHHOOOOO!!!!.....my allergies.   They really work, but if you forget to stay hydrated by drinking water, it can leave you feeling like a prune or a raisin that has been stepped on.   The Lord really helped me "treach" tonight, however, as I continued the 1 Thess expository teaching despite my "prune state".  One of my points tonight?  In everything give God thanks. 

PHEW!

There must've been a traumatized skunk in our neighborhood.  PHEW!  These cute creatures certainly have their own deadly signature smell.   As I understand, if a person gets sprayed by a skunk, the most effective way to be cleansed from the skunk smell is with a tomato juice bath!
